DRA. PATRICIA A. GONZÁLEZ MORENO

Currículo

Full-time professor at the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, Mexico. She is external advisor for the Doctorate in Music Education at Boston University (2016- to date) and the Faculty of Music at UNAM (Master’s and Doctorate in Music, 2012- to date). In 2009 she completed his PhD studies in Music Education at the University of Illinois, under the supervision of Prof. Gary McPherson in the field of music psychology. She belongs to the National System of Researchers of the National Council of Science and Technology (Level I, 2013-2024). She is currently President-Elect of the International Society for Music Education (ISME, 2022-2024). From 2012 to 2016, he was also a member of the ISME Board of Directors, chaired the Advocacy Standing Committee (2012-2014) and the Research Commission (2018-2020). Her research and teaching interests include music teacher education, music psychology, motivation and creativity, professional development in arts and music education for generalists and specialists, effects of music on cognitive development, and psychological aspects in musical performance.

 

She has published in prestigious international journals such as Research Studies in Music Education, Music Education Research, International Journal of Music Education, Revista Internacional de Educación Musical, ArtsEduca, Revista Electrónica Complutense de Investigación en Educación Musical y Revista Portuguesa de Educaçao Artística. In addition, she has published chapters in the books: Routledge Companion to Teaching Composition in Schools: International Perspective; Music and Social Inclusion: International Research and Practice in Complex Settings (Routledge); Oxford Handbook of Technology and Music Education; Oxford Textbook of Creative Arts, Health, and Wellbeing; Developing Creativities in Higher Music Education (Routledge); The Preparation of Music Teachers: A Global Perspective (ANPPOM); Music and Media Infused Lives: Music Education in a Digital Age (CMEA); La Educación Musical en el Nivel Básico en México (UNAM); Borderless: Global Narratives in Art Education (InSEA Publications), among others.

 

She has served in various editorial committees of international journals in music education, including the International Journal of Music Education, Revista Electrónica Complutense de Investigación en Educación Musical, Revista Internacional de Educación Musical, Revista NUPEART, Revista Portuguesa de Educação Artística, among others.
